The title PETRICHOR refers to that unique, earthy aroma of rain meeting dry soil, a sensory metaphor for renewal after barrenness. This theme runs through the album, capturing Balbuena’s fascination with reinvention, where we come from, and the hidden power within solitude. It’s a fitting title for a record steeped in both vulnerability and resistance, revealing a Shake who’s emerging from her own artistic drought to bloom in striking new ways.

The lead single, “Winter Baby / New Jersey Blues,” sets the tone of the album, embodying that bittersweet blend of memory and melancholy. Directed by Bennett Watanabe and featuring Balbuena's partner Lily-Rose Depp, the music video plays out like a film in itself, blending the singer's enigmatic presence with haunting visuals of empty streets and rain-soaked cityscapes.
