ALT BLK ERA’s Rave Immortal is a fearless debut that shatters genre boundaries, blending alt-metal, drum’n’bass, darkwave, and punk-rap into a bold declaration of resilience and creative freedom.

"Artists that aren’t bound by any genre can do it all. We listen to whatever we want, we make whatever we want, we are whoever we want to be."

Those words, spoken by Nyrobi of ALT BLK ERA, might sound audacious - until you press play on Rave Immortal, the fearless debut album from the Nottingham-based duo she formed with her sister Chaya during lockdown. This isn’t just a record; it’s a manifesto of intent. Over ten electrifying tracks, Rave Immortal channels unrelenting urgency and raw ambition, demanding attention with every note. Produced by Natt Webb (The Struts, King Blonde) during an intense six-day session at RatCat Studios, the album radiates the kind of energy that can’t be ignored.

ALT BLK ERA are genre-obliterators in every sense. From the alt-metal punch of “Come On Outside” to the drum’n’bass earthquake of “Crashing Parties,” they bend styles to their will. “Hunt You Down,” for example, plunges into darkwave territory with the eerie allure of Billie Eilish’s shadowy alter ego, while “Come Fight Me For It” unleashes punk-rap chaos with unapologetic swagger. It’s a whirlwind of sound and vision, all the more astounding when you consider that Nyrobi and Chaya are just 20 and 17 years old.

But this defiance isn’t just musical. It’s personal. For Nyrobi, the journey to Rave Immortal was shaped by a life-altering diagnosis in late 2020: chronic fatigue syndrome, a condition that brought constant exhaustion and pain. Music became her lifeline. An online course, encouraged by their mother, gave Nyrobi a reason to face each day - and reignited a creative spark between the sisters. Writing songs together became their therapy and their rebellion.

For a time, they kept Nyrobi’s condition private, wary of how the industry might react. But ALT BLK ERA aren’t hiding anymore. True to their ethos, they’ve reclaimed the narrative, sharing their story in the hopes of inspiring others to confront and embrace their own challenges.
