Bear McCreary’s expansive rock odyssey The Singularity is much more than just one thing, beyond the album it’s also a graphic novel and concert series. Guests include Slash, Serj Tankian, Corey Taylor, Joe Satriani, and more.

Bear McCreary, the man behind some of the most-heard scores in television and film, has let loose his latest creation, The Singularity, an epic rock concept album that isn’t bound to a single genre or media. Known for his Emmy and BAFTA-winning compositions and Grammy nominations, McCreary’s new endeavor is a fusion of high-voltage rock, cinematic flair, and a tale that grips the imagination. The Singularity isn’t just an album, it's a multidimensional experience that includes a graphic novel and a concert series. With a star-studded lineup featuring big names like Slash, Serj Tankian, Corey Taylor, and Joe Satriani, this massive undertaking shows the level McCreary has risen to in the music world. These heavyweights are joined by a diverse cast of musical characters including Eivør, drummer Gene Hoglan, and members of the Dillinger Escape Plan, Oingo Boingo, and Dethklok, a combination that’s as eclectic as it is electric.

The music of The Singularity is an ambitious blend of hard rock, orchestral arrangements, and global influences, incorporating instruments like the morin khuur, bagpipes, and nyckelharpa. This odd mixture is what gives the album a cinematic depth, echoing McCreary's work on scores for The Walking Dead and the video game God Of War. His brother, Brendan McCreary, co-wrote, co-produced, and lends his vocals to eight of the songs, giving the album a personal and familial touch within its grand scale.

At the heart of The Singularity is the story of Blue Eyes, a character trapped in a cycle of endless rebirth across bizarre universes. Each life brings new love, only for it to be inevitably lost. When Blue Eyes finally confronts a mysterious figure who has haunted his existence, he seizes the opportunity for revenge - or perhaps, a release from his curse. The story finds its visual counterpart in the The Singularity graphic novel, co-created by McCreary and writer Mat Groom, with creative direction from Kyle Higgins. Published by Image Comics, the graphic novel brings to life the emotional and cosmic scale of Blue Eyes' journey, giving readers a visual feast that’s as dynamic as the album that inspired it.

With The Singularity, Bear McCreary pushes the boundaries of what a concept album can be, it’s a full-spectrum sensory experience - a whirlwind of sound, story, and spectacle. Whether you're a fan of rock, comics, or fantasy storytelling, The Singularity has a little something for everybody.
