Chicago fans are in for a treat as Chicago marks the 55th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album, Chicago Transit Authority, with a special release titled Chicago & Friends Live At 55. The celebration comes in an array of formats, including DVD+2CD, Blu-ray+2CD, 4K UHD, 2CD, 3LP, digital audio, and digital video.
Captured during a two-night performance at Ovation Hall in Atlantic City’s Ocean Casino Resort, this 2½-hour spectacle showcases the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers as they bring down the house for 10,000 devoted fans. The concert, part of the critically acclaimed Decades Rock Live series, was produced by the award-winning Barry Summers and features a mix of hits from their iconic debut album and some rare, never-before-performed tracks.
Chicago are joined by an impressive lineup of special guests, including Robin Thicke, Chris Daughtry, Steve Vai, VoicePlay, Judith Hill, Robert Randolph, and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram. Their performances, enhanced with vibrant visuals and animation, bring a fresh and dynamic energy to Chicago's timeless music.
"This concert film is a unique approach to any of our previous live performances," says Chicago’s founding member Lee Loughnane. "We very rarely play with guest artists, much less seven of them. It was fascinating to work with each guest and experience their interpretations of our music."
The evening's show blended hits from Chicago Transit Authority with acoustic, a cappella versions of some of their classic songs. These emotionally charged performances, set against a backdrop of original full-length animations on a custom LED screen, create a truly immersive experience.
