Grammy nominated Danielle Nicole, a Kansas City, Missouri native, has been enchanting audiences both near and far with her musical prowess. Her new album is a soul-stirring collection which explores the intricate tapestry of love, loss, and resilience.
Produced by Tony Braunagel (known for his work with Taj Mahal, Eric Burdon, and Robert Cray), and co-produced by Nicole, The Love You Bleed boasts a tight-knit quartet featuring Danielle on bass guitar and vocals, Brandon Miller (electric, acoustic, pedal steel, mandolin, and 12-string guitar), Damon Parker (keyboards), Go-Go Ray (drums), and Stevie Blacke (violin and cello). A musical dream team, to say the least.
Rooted in familial influences, Nicole recalls her early exposure to blues through her father's guitar and her mother's singing with the group Little Eva. She eventually teamed up with her brothers in Trampled Under Foot, a group which gained notice in the Midwest. Nicole's solo journey kicked off with Wolf Den in 2015, hitting No. 2 on the Billboard Blues charts and amassing 7.5 million Spotify streams. Cry No More in 2018 followed suit, earning a Grammy nomination and clinching the top spot on the Billboard Blues chart, with over 10 million Spotify streams.
"Danielle Nicole has won respect and admiration throughout the American blues scene for her soulful, inventive playing and tireless work ethic." - Guitar World
"Nicole brings it, bakes it, and serves it up blazing on a silver soul-rocking platter." - Blues Music Magazine
"Blues and soul vocalists tend to improve as they age. Bettye LaVette is among the artists who became increasingly believable as she matured. Danielle Nicole appears to be following in her footsteps." - Kansas City Star
The Love You Bleed emanates a powerful sense of self, guiding the new songs to the heights Nicole envisioned. "I want to consciously move forward in the natural evolution of my songwriting and singing," she declares, "And as I grow as a person, a woman, a mother." In the midst of love's complexity, Danielle Nicole's musical journey continues to unfold, resonating with authenticity and a soulful vibrancy that captures the essence of the heartland she calls home.
