Dio’s Holy Diver was a platinum-certified smash upon it’s original release and one of the late singer-songwriter’s most groundbreaking achievements. Rhino revisits this epic metal moment on Holy Diver: Joe Barresi Remix (Super Deluxe Edition), available as a 4-CD boxed set.
This collection comes with two versions of Holy Diver. The first is a new mix of the album made by Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Slipknot). He used the original analog tapes to remix all nine tracks on the album. The second is a newly remastered version of the original 1983 mix. The Super Deluxe Edition also features unreleased live performances and outtakes, along with a selection of rarities from the era.
Joe Barresi’s new mix of Holy Diver is also available as a 2-LP set on 180-gram vinyl. It includes the original nine tracks, plus the 1983 B-side version of “Evil Eyes” as a bonus track. Side four is decorated with an etching of the legendary demon Murray that graces the album’s iconic cover. The vinyl is kept in a gatefold sleeve that shows off newly commissioned artwork by longtime Dio artist Marc Sasso.
Eddie Munson from Stranger Things knows what's up and you should too. In fact, his back patch seen in the current season of the show was donated by the Ronnie James Dio estate themselves.
Dio was an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 and led by vocalist Ronnie James Dio, after he left Black Sabbath with intentions to form a new band with fellow former Black Sabbath member, drummer Vinny Appice. The name Dio was chosen because it made sense from a commercial standpoint, as the name was already well known at that time. The band released ten studio albums and had numerous line-up changes over the years with Ronnie James Dio having been the only constant member. The band has sold more than 10 million copies of albums worldwide.
