As if discovered by raiders of the lost rock, long-lost live recordings of Fanny have been unearthed and can be found on the genuine holy grail, Live On Beat-Club ’71-’72.

"One of the most important female bands in American rock has been buried without a trace. ...They were extraordinary... as important as anybody else who's ever been; it just wasn't their time." - David Bowie, 1999

Get ready to experience the true energy of early '70s rock and roll with Fanny's Live On Beat-Club ’71-’72. Fanny were the first all-female rock band to release an album on a major label, but their studio albums - produced by greats like Richard Perry, Todd Rundgren, and Geoff Emerick - never quite captured the raw energy that made them the hottest act on the Sunset Strip. Now, with this newly exhumed recording, you can experience a missing piece of Fanny’s legacy - the band's legendary live show. And hear why the Go-Go's, the Runaways and the Bangles have each cited Fanny as a key influence on them.

Live on Beat-Club ’71-’72 features two fiery sets Fanny recorded for the German TV show Beat-Club. Mastered by Mike Milchner from high-resolution mono files sourced from the original videotape, the gigs reveal the true depth of Fanny’s talent. Each member of the band - June Millington’s Les Paul wizardry, Jean Millington’s melodic bass work and Janis Joplin-esque vocals, Nickey Barclay’s rocking keyboard, and Alice de Buhr’s ferocious drumming - shines in these recordings, proving that together they were something special.

Bringing these recordings to light has been a passion project for drummer Alice de Buhr. With liner notes featuring insights from both de Buhr sisters and Millington, learn the backstory of this incredible find. An engineer who worked on transferring the Beat-Club material even told June that Fanny's recordings were the best in the vault, surpassing even those of Jimi Hendrix. That’s some incredibly high praise indeed!

Available on juicy peach vinyl and CD with a bonus track from the soundcheck, Live On Beat-Club ’71-’72 is a must-have for any serious Fanny collector, or really any fan of classic rock, as it offers a never before seen look at '70s rock through the lens of a band that was ahead of its time. Real Gone Music has done a real service in reissuing Fanny's four classic Reprise albums, and this release fills a crucial gap.
