Blues guitar slinger Ghalia Volt returns with Shout Sister Shout!, the highly anticipated follow up to her 2021 breakthrough, One Woman Band.

In the heart of Joshua Tree, where rock 'n' roll legends were born, Ghalia Volt embarked on a musical pilgrimage for her latest long-player, Shout Sister Shout! This desert oasis, steeped in Gram Parsons and U2 lore, is also home to the iconic Rancho De La Luna studio, founded by David Catching three decades ago, a place where the allure of the desert and rock 'n' roll mystique collide.

Ghalia Volt, the Belgian singer-songwriter, shares her unique desert recording experience, with memories of Joshua Tree Park's vastness, starry nights, coyote howls, and the vintage car outside the studio. But it's Rancho De La Luna's history and rock 'n' roll spirit that truly left its mark.

Venturing into the desert somewhere between Los Angeles and nowhere was another chapter in Volt's journey, which began when she left Brussels for the vibrant music scene of New Orleans. Her career soared, with her debut album Let The Demons Out, earning acclaim and Mississippi Blend breaking into the Billboard Blues Chart top three.

Even the pandemic couldn't stop her creative streak. Volt penned songs for her One Woman Band project during a month-long Amtrak journey across America. "One Woman Band opened doors, let me play bigger stages. But Shout Sister Shout! is my best work yet."

The new album owes its unique sound to the desert's influence and Rancho De La Luna's charm, famous for hosting musical legends. Catching's studio has welcomed the likes of Iggy Pop, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, and PJ Harvey, who were all embraced by its laid-back rhythm and Catching's mezcal hospitality.

Local musicians, including Ben Alleman and Danny Frankel, joined Volt, creating a chemistry that crackles through the record. Volt's evolution as a songwriter is evident, infusing a '70s rock vibe into her blues roots.

The result is a spectacular album. "Every Cloud" kicks off like a road movie soundtrack; "Can't Afford To Die" blends rockabilly with a sobering message; "Insomnia" explores slow-burn psychedelia, and "Hell Is Not Gonna Deal With You" explodes with Volt's venomous vocals. "Po' Boy John" invites us to imagine the tales an old guitar could tell, while the title track demands attention with its empowering message. Volt remarks, "Right now, the world is going backward." And finally, "Hop On A Ride," co-written with label mate Eddie 9V, is a musical journey through her life, a testament to her relentless pursuit of music.

In the desert, Ghalia Volt found herself. After One Woman Band's success, she returns with her career-defining album, ready to set the world ablaze. As she contemplates her future, she leaves us with one promise: "Maybe I'll come back to solo shows later in my career, but right now, I'm ready to jump back into a band, play these new songs live, and run all around the stage…" Witness the resurrection of blues-rock's brightest star under the Joshua Tree.
