Noise rock supergroup Human Impact return with Gone Dark, a potent mix of raw aggression and fierce commentary on corporate greed and societal collapse, making it a bold call to action for a world on the edge.

Human Impact strike back with Gone Dark, their second full-length offering. This isn’t just a routine follow-up to their self-titled debut however, Gone Dark is a bristling, sharper evolution of their noise rock sound. Frontman Chris Spencer of Unsane fame and Cop Shoot Cop's Jim Coleman have crafted something both brutal and bold, a shout that cuts through the noise of impending collapse. It’s not merely a lament but a declaration; an electrified call to arms and a demand for resilience in an unraveling world.

Since their debut, which landed just before the global shutdown, the band hasn’t stayed quiet. They’ve been steadily building momentum with a series of singles and their 2021 EP EP01, accompanied by a round of tours that loudly announced their presence. Recognition came quick, with a cover on New Noise Magazine France and a feature in The New York Times, signaling that Human Impact’s dystopian soundscape was resonating far and wide.

Gone Dark features tracks like "Corrupted," a venomous takedown of corporate greed that could easily serve as the album's core manifesto. It’s a sonic sledgehammer aimed directly at the corporate machine, particularly Big Pharma, whose profit-driven motives have devastated communities and lives. Spencer’s raspy bark and jagged guitar riffs tear through the airwaves like a warning siren, calling listeners to action: “Follow the sound... the future is now.” The band doesn’t mince words when talking about the grim realities behind the track. “‘Corrupted’ speaks to the insatiable greed of Big Pharma,” they explain. "It’s created addiction, homelessness, and mental illness, while the opioid crisis has spiraled into a Fentanyl and Meth epidemic. The whole system is designed for profit, even criminally prosecuting addicts to fuel the prison-industrial complex.”

The Human Impact lineup has also gotten a serious power boost. With the addition of bassist Eric Cooper (Made Out of Babies, Bad Powers) and drummer Jon Syverson (Daughters), the band has sharpened their edge. Spencer, who spent much of the 2020 lockdown working in isolation in East Texas, began jamming with the two in Cooper’s garage. These informal sessions quickly evolved, and soon enough, the pair became integral parts of Human Impact’s rhythm section.

“Jon and Coop bring incredible musicianship,” Spencer says. “I feel incredibly lucky to be in a band with Jon. We've clicked since minute one, and Coop is not only a killer bassist but one of my best friends. I can't wait to play these tracks live.”

With Gone Dark, Human Impact is more than ready to hit the stage again, armed with their relentless sound and a burning message. This is noise rock with a purpose, precision-guided for the times we’re living in.
