With I Want Blood, Jerry Cantrell delivers an album that highlights his exceptional songwriting and guitar skills while pushing the boundaries of his sound beyond his Alice in Chains legacy. Guests include Duff McKagan and Robert Trujillo.

Jerry Cantrell’s fourth solo album, I Want Blood, cements his legacy beyond Alice in Chains, offering a heavy, gritty, and raw body of work that feels uniquely him. Co-produced by Cantrell and Joe Barresi (known for his work with Tool and Queens of the Stone Age), the album pulls together a powerhouse cellective of musicians. Contributions from Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Gil Sharone (Team Sleep), and Mike Bordin (Faith No More) lay a rock-solid foundation. Vocals from Lola Colette and Greg Puciato (Better Lovers, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) add a fierce dynamic.

“This record is a serious piece of work. It’s a motherfucker,” Cantrell says bluntly. “It’s hard, no doubt, and completely unlike Brighten. And that’s what you want, to end up in a different place. There’s a confidence to this album. I think it’s some of my best songwriting and playing, and certainly some of my best singing.”

The first single, “Vilified,” hits like sledgehammer, showcasing Cantrell’s ability to marry the ferocity of metal with a bluesy, rhythmic backbone. “’Vilified’ travels a lot of places in just four and a half minutes. It’s got a ferocity and really aggressive vibe to it,” Cantrell explains, encapsulating the track's hard-hitting nature.

Recorded at JHOC Studio in Pasadena, California, I Want Blood is further proof of Jerry Cantrell's enduring influence as one of rock’s greatest guitarists. While Alice in Chains wrote his first chapter in grunge history, Cantrell’s solo work continues to push boundaries, proving his artistry transcends genre and era.
