For their appropriately named eighth album, Kaiser Chiefs have teamed up with Amir Amor (Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith) and the legendary Nile Rodgers to push their sound to new exciting heights while staying true to their quintessential sound.
Formed amidst the vibrant Leeds scene back in 2000, Kaiser Chiefs swiftly emerged as the vanguard of their generation. Led by the irrepressible Ricky Wilson and backed by the widely regarded talents of Simon Rix on bass, Andrew "Whitey" White on guitar, Nick "Peanut" Baines on keyboards, and the rhythmic backbone of drummer Vijay Mistry, the band created International hits like "Oh My God," "I Predict A Riot," and "Everyday I Love You Less and Less."
Since their inception, Kaiser Chiefs have released seven acclaimed studio albums, including the Mercury-nominated debut Employment, which racked up more than two million copies sold, and its chart-topping follow-up Yours Truly, Angry Mob. Since then, they have continually challenged and improved upon their craft while gaining new fans along the way.
The band's accolades speak volumes – from top-ten singles like the iconic number one hit "Ruby" to three Brit Awards and an Ivor Novello award for Album of the Year. Meanwhile, they've graced stages alongside legends like U2, Foo Fighters, and Green Day, captivating audiences worldwide and amassing a staggering eight million albums sold in total.
Reflecting on their journey, front man Ricky Wilson reflects, “We might never get to the point where we can sit in an armchair with our arms behind our heads and go: ‘lads, we’ve done it’. But at the same time, maybe that’s why, years later, Kaiser Chiefs are still here.”
