Music Man is the first album from the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer Layng Martine Jr., the man who wrote Reba McIntire’s first hit… and Elvis Presley’s last.
More than 50 years into his songwriting career, Music Man is Layng Martine Jr.’s remarkable debut album, a Christmas gift from his producer son, Tucker Martine, whose has worked with Neko Case, Sufjan Stevens, the Decemberists, and My Morning Jacket.
Layng and Tucker, joined by a cast of musicians that includes Peter Buck, kd lang, Bill Frisell, and Laura Veirs, have crafted an album with a timeless sound, filled with all the warmth, heart, humor, and hooks that made Layng’s songs hits for generations of Nashville stars.
Released in collaboration with Kill Rock Stars Nashville, Music Man is the first album from the newly relaunched Bloodshot Records, and a sign of great things to come from the resurgent home of insurgent country.
