With new singer Emily Armstrong, Linkin Park is a band reborn on From Zero, the beginning of a new era but still rooted in old bonds.

Seven years after their last release, Linkin Park has re-emerged, not with a reinvention, but with a powerful reconnection to their roots. From Zero, their latest album, draws its name from Xero – which was the band’s original name - an homage to both their humble beginnings and the new chapter they’re writing today. The lineup brings back core members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn, and introduces two electrifying new members: Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara on co-vocals and Colin Brittain on drums.

But don't call it just a revival, it's a return to Linkin Park’s original chemistry. Following the tragic death of lead singer Chester Bennington in 2017 and with zero expectations, Shinoda and his bandmates began jamming again as friends over the past few years rather than “restarting the band.” The studio sessions quickly rekindled their energy, and with Armstrong’s fiery vocal power and Brittain’s heavy-hitting drums, that spark became something bigger. Reflecting on the creative process, Shinoda shared, “Sonically and emotionally, From Zero is about past, present, and future - embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life.” He added that the album is filled with a deep appreciation for their longtime bandmates and new additions, the fans, and the road ahead.

The first single, “The Emptiness Machine,” channels everything Linkin Park has always done best – the hypnotic melodies from Shinoda, more thunderous riffs, and Armstrong’s blistering vocals, all converging into a head-banging, anthemic moment. The song showcases the undeniable synergy between the veteran members and the new additions, a fusion of classic Linkin Park energy with new added power. “The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we realized how much we wanted this lineup,” Shinoda added. “There’s something really invigorating about what we’ve created together. We’re weaving in the touchpoints fans love, but we’re still exploring and pushing boundaries.”

From Zero isn’t about nostalgia, though, it’s about evolving. The album echoes with Linkin Park’s familiar intensity but is woven with a sense of renewal and optimism. It’s as if the band is reliving their early days, reigniting the drive and passion that first put them on the map while embracing everything they’ve learned along the way. With From Zero, Linkin Park embarks on a new era that’s both a tribute to their roots and an exciting step forward. For the fans who’ve waited, for those discovering them anew, and for the members themselves, the album represents a return to form with a promise for the future.
