Silvestri’s texts (written collaboratively with Whitacre after the death of Silvestri’s wife) and the intimate, compelling score tell a story of courtship, love, loss and the search for solace. The 53-minute work, described by many as Whitacre's “Requiem” is performed on this recording by America's premiere professional choir, the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
