After two decades away, mclusky return with the world is still here and so are we, a sharp, urgent, and uncompromising fourth album that proves their raw energy and wit are as potent as ever.
After two decades away from the studio, mclusky are back with the world is still here and so are we. The album marks the Welsh band’s long-awaited fourth studio effort, following their initial run of three records before disbanding in 2005.
Their unexpected return began in 2014 when they reunited to play benefit shows for a local venue. What started as a one-off became something more, leading to years of touring and, ultimately, new music. Now solidified as a trio - Andy Falkous, Damien Sayell, and Jack Egglestone - mclusky have spent the last six years performing across much of the globe, earning a reputation for high-energy live shows and razor-sharp songwriting.
Crafting the world is still here and so are we wasn’t without its challenges. The band admit that finding the right tone for the record took time, but once they did, everything fell into place. The result is 34 minutes of urgent, uncompromising music that stays true to their sound without being trapped by the past.
Lyrically, the album is as sharp and self-aware as ever, covering a mix of personal reflections and wry observations. While the title may read like a statement on resilience, mclusky leaves its meaning open-ended. One thing is certain, the band is here, the music is here, and after 20 years, so are the fans.
