Paris Paloma’s debut album Cacophony intricately weaves the raw energy of womanhood into a darkly ethereal blend of folk, pop, and indie, offering listeners a deeply poetic exploration of love, grief, and power that resonates with both vulnerability and strength.
UK singer-songwriter Paris Paloma channels the intricate layers of womanhood into her music, crafting a sonic tapestry that speaks to love, grief, power, and the complex dance between them. Her lyrics, infused with the cadence of poetry, draw from a rich well of inspiration - mythology, art history, and the Romantics. Paris navigates a spectrum of emotion, from the tender to the vengeful, creating an ethereal sound that’s rooted in dark pop, folk, and indie influences. The result? A body of work that feels both otherworldly and fiercely feminine.
Her debut album, Cacophony, is a 15-track collection which includes her already beloved tracks "my mind (now)," "drywall," "as good a reason," "yeti," and the viral hit "labour," which has stormed the Billboard charts and resonated with millions.
“I embrace the feral, feminine energy in my music,” Paloma shares. “There’s something wild about being unapologetically vulnerable - it’s a reclamation, a return to our primal roots.”
Paloma kicked off her album with a spellbinding performance of "labour" on The Kelly Clarkson Show back in March. The track, a powerful anthem that struck a chord with women worldwide, has amassed over 100 million Spotify streams and landed on the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Chart. The performance, set against the backdrop of Tate Britain and accompanied by an all-female choir and cellists, elevated the song’s message even further.
With a Fine Arts degree from Goldsmiths, Paloma’s songwriting and visuals are as informed by fantasy as they are by reality. Cacophony draws inspiration from Stephen Fry’s Mythos, delving into creation myths and the chaos of existence. “From this chaotic cosmic yawn, creation sprang forth,” she explains. “This album is my way of making sense of the overwhelming spaces in my mind - where anxiety, OCD, and trauma dwell.”
With Cacophony, Paris Paloma offers not just songs, but a journey - a deep dive into the feminine psyche, where vulnerability and strength coexist, where the past informs the present, and where the power of storytelling reigns supreme.
