Ricky Warwick’s Blood Ties channels his unshakable passion for rock into a blistering, guitar-driven album that features guest spots from Billy Duffy, Lita Ford, and Charlie Starr.

Ricky Warwick, a true rock lifer, has always lived life at full throttle. From his beginnings in the farm fields of Northern Ireland to his globally influential career with Black Star Riders, the Almighty, and Thin Lizzy, Warwick’s trajectory has been anything but ordinary. His latest solo venture, Blood Ties, is a prime example of his enduring creativity, raw energy, and relentless work ethic.

Blood Ties delivers cathartic guitar-driven anthems and life-affirming reflections on Warwick’s place in the world. It’s a standout work in a career that’s already spanned more than four decades. Known for his honesty and authenticity, Warwick distills his experiences, his love for home, the drive to push musical boundaries, and his enduring passion for rock into each note. The album is an energetic exploration of where he stands now, carving out a space that is both nostalgic and fresh.

Warwick’s journey began at the age of 13 in Northern Ireland’s County Down, where music was a constant presence in his life. The punk explosion of the late '70s and early '80s in Belfast left an indelible mark on him, pushing him toward his first steps into the world of music. A few years later, the Warwick family moved to Strathaven, Scotland, where the flames of his musical ambition ignited. By 1987, Warwick was on tour with New Model Army, marking the beginning of a career that would continue to unfold in unexpected and extraordinary ways.

Forming the Almighty in Glasgow in 1988, Warwick and his bandmates quickly made a name for themselves. With an impressive run of Top 40 singles and albums, and tours with legends like Iron Maiden, Motörhead, and Megadeth, the Almighty built a sizable following. Yet, despite the success, Warwick’s pull to his roots remained strong. In 2002, he returned to Ireland, where he recorded his first solo album, Tattoos & Alibis which showcased his ability to navigate different genres with ease and authenticity.

Though Warwick now calls Los Angeles home, the draw of Northern Ireland has never faded. The idea of returning to his roots is ever-present, with plans to relocate back to the countryside always on his mind. The pull of home, of family, and of the life he has lived for so long continues to influence his creative output, and it’s clear that Blood Ties reflects this deep connection.

This is an album that needs to be enjoyed loud, with Warwick describing the guitars as being “beyond driven.” Featuring guest appearances from the Cult's Billy Duffy, Lita Ford, and Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke, Blood Ties captures a rawness that fans of Warwick’s work have come to expect. Co-written with longtime collaborator Keith Nelson, the album puts an exclamation point on the depth of Warwick’s talent as a solo artist.

With Blood Ties, Ricky Warwick proves once again that his creativity is unstoppable. The man who went from scouring for Thin Lizzy albums in the record shops of Belfast as a kid to fronting the iconic band on stage is still hungry for more. His life’s work is far from over, and Blood Ties proves there’s plenty of gas left in the tank.
