What do you do if you’re a young nu-metal band in 2023 trying to get your music heard? Well, if you’re Atlanta’s Silly Goose, you play everywhere and anywhere, at any time, to make sure the streets hear it first!
You may have first heard of Silly Goose in our newsletter last week (you can sign up for it here if you'd like), but if not, they are relatively new metal band from Atlanta who have been creating quite a buzz online by playing unannounced pop-up gigs at some pretty unconventional places. Last summer for example, they concertbombed the INKcarceration Music + Ink Festival in Ohio. They weren't invited mind you, they just showed up, parked, plugged in, and turned it up from the back of their flatbed truck.
They caused such a ruckus apparently, that INKcarceration promoter, Danny Wimmer gave them a real slot later that weekend which led to a Twitch interview by metal stalwarts, Jose Magnin and Matt Pinfield, as well as a demo deal with Wimmer's label, and a slot at last year's Louder Than Life festival.
Already masters of "guerilla marketing," Silly Goose have also played a McDonalds (inside!), at a gas station, and most recently, inside a Subway shop which has racked up over 115K likes on IG! How about that kid making the sandwich behind the counter - powering through that Spicy Italian without missing a beat!
This ain’t your dad’s Limp Bizkit however, this is the NWOMNM - New Wave of Modern Nu Metal!
