After receiving acclaim for their Grammy-nominated live tribute album, North Carolina Songbook, honoring fellow North Carolinians, the Steep Canyon Rangers return with Live At Greenfield Lake, a live showcase of their original compositions.
Following the success of Steep Canyon Rangers’ Grammy-nominated and Billboard Bluegrass chart-topping 2019 live album North Carolina Songbook,on which they paid homage to fellow Tar Heel State legends like Elizabeth Cotton, James Taylor, and Doc Watson, demand surged for a live album featuring the Rangers' original compositions. This anticipation culminated in their new album, Live At Greenfield Lake.
Live At Greenfield Lake showcases the band's multifaceted talent, from hauntingly beautiful renditions of songs like "Recommend Me" and "Birds of Ohio" to high-energy performances of favorites such as "Afterglow" and "Sunny Days." Each track showcases the Rangers' ability to seamlessly navigate various genres and styles well beyond the comforts of bluegrass.
Hailing from the crossroads of North Carolina's Appalachian and Piedmont regions, the Steep Canyon Rangers have been torchbearers of traditional bluegrass for the past 25 years. Throughout that time, they've evolved beyond mountain sounds, incorporating a diverse range of musical styles into their repertoire. No less than Rolling Stone has praised them, calling them "one of the most sought-after groups in Americana, bluegrass, and indie folk."
