Led by classic-era guitarist Andy Scott, Sweet are back with their new album Full Circle, staying true to their iconic glam rock sound while infusing a fresh, modern edge.
For over five decades, Sweet have mesmerized fans, selling more than 55 million albums and landing 34 number-one hits across the globe. At the heart of Sweet's ongoing legacy is Andy Scott, the band's veteran leader. His relentless commitment to preserving and elevating Sweet's music has been the backbone of their journey, ensuring that both their classic catalog and live shows maintain the energy and precision that defines the Sweet experience. Even today, Scott brings together a powerhouse lineup of musicians who capture the magic of the glam rock legends soaring vocals and electrifying performances.
In 2019, Sweet embarked on writing new material for their highly anticipated album Full Circle. Like so many projects, the pandemic put a halt to their plans, but rather than slowing down, they shifted gears and released Isolation Boulevard. Recorded remotely, the album breathed new life into older tracks, and the single "Set Me Free" found success on heritage rock charts.
When the world moved past the isolation of Covid, Sweet resumed work on Full Circle, wrapping up recording in the spring of 2024. With Scott and keyboardist/guitarist Tom Cory guiding production, the band have delivered a fresh set of songs that showcase Sweet in top form - vintage rock at its finest, yet firmly grounded in the present.
Sweet’s journey began in 1970 when Brian Connolly and Mick Tucker, fresh from Wainwright's Gentlemen, formed Sweetshop (soon shortened to the Sweet). Bassist Steve Priest, already making waves with his band the Army, joined next. After a couple of guitarists came and went, the band found itself at a pivotal moment, unsure of its future. Then, Andy Scott stepped in from the Elastic Band, completing what is now known as the classic lineup. Sadly, Connolly passed away in 1997, Tucker in 2002, and Priest in 2020, leaving Andy Scott at the helm of one of the greatest rock bands to emerge from the '70s.
