Steve Kilbey and the Church take listeners on another mesmerizing journey through the ethereal landscapes of Antarctic City with Eros Zeta & The Perfumed Guitars.

Building upon the thematic foundations laid by the Church's critically acclaimed album The Hypnogogue, this second part of the story looks even deeper into the enigmatic world of Antarctic City, unfolding through 15 songs that transport us to uncharted territories of the imagination. Continuing their exploration of the mysterious city, Kilbey and company tell a story that blurs the lines between reality and fantasy. Each track serving as a portal into a surreal land where dreamlike visions and haunting melodies intertwine. For instance, there’s “A Strange Past,” which opens with a quintessential Church guitar part before swirling into the kind of off-kilter pop song the band made famous, with Kilbey talk singing his way through the song with a romantic lilt that reminds one of the Only Ones’ Peter Perrett.

With Kilbey's evocative lyrics and his band’s signature atmospheric psychedelic rock leading the way, each song unfolds like a chapter in the saga, drawing listeners ever deeper into its spellbinding narrative with shimmering melodies that seem to come from other galaxies. As Kilbey and band take us further down the Antarctic City rabbit hole, Eros Zeta & The Perfumed Guitars begs you to surrender to the music and let your imagination soar along with them.

If you’re not up to speed on the story of Eros Zeta, you can catch up via the future backstory from the album liner notes:

"Eros Zeta and the Perfumed Guitars were formed in 2048 in Antarctic City in Antarctica. They had many hits including 'Realm of Minor Angels' and 'Sublimated in Song' and in all released 6 collections of music. They toured the post war world incessantly during the early 2050s and were capable on a good night of selling out concerts in most countries that still had gigs. The band were troubled with personnel and substance problems culminating in Eros Zeta's addiction to Sky and his subsequent inability to write new songs. In 2054 he journeyed to Korea where he used the Hypnogogue to create new music. After the disastrous effects these songs created he died in a traffic accident whilst on his way to the airport to return home. The songs were thereafter prohibited in most places. In recognition of his services to Antarctican music a statue was built to honour him in the Australian Quarter of Antarctic City. The band continued on without him but to little success which led to them disbanding in 2057."

Presented in a deluxe card gatefold sleeve adorned with stunning cover art once again by Christiana Monored, Eros Zeta & The Perfumed Guitars is a visual and auditory feast for the senses. Just about all of them.
