Pure, haunting, meditative, somber, simple and classic: the Everly Brothers' 1958 Songs Our Daddy Taught Us made a seminal artistic statement without pretension. A concept album before there was such thing; a return to basics before rock music had even matured.
Every extant session tape from the August 1958 sessions for the album was reviewed for this reissue. Alternate takes of four of the songs - 'Roving Gambler,' 'Down In The Willow Garden,' 'Barbara Allen,' and 'Put My Little Shoes Away' - were selected as bonus tracks and are all, heretofore, unissued.
