The Flatlanders’ first album in more than a decade shows that their friendship is deeper and stronger than ever before.
Completing the record during COVID-19 lockdowns, the iconic Texas trio of Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Butch Hancock present a collection of performances full of humor and heartbreak. While a few of the songs are new originals, the majority are vintage tunes the band picked up during their 50-year career, some stretching back to the group’s earliest performances in the honky-tonks around Lubbock, TX. After all these years, the spirit of the Flatlanders remains the same: everything’s better with friends.
