Legendary New Jersey rockers, the NEW Bardōts are back and they are on a mission to keep rock and roll alive! The new album, Turn Your Head And Cough includes their take on the Depeche Mode hit, "Policy Of Truth."
In an era dominated by pop, where has good old rock and roll gone? Fear not, for the saviors of the genre have arrived, and they go by the name of the NEW Bardōts. With no gimmicks, no auto-tune, just straight-ahead rock and roll that will blow your mind, this powerhouse quintet from New Jersey are putting the barroom sweat back where it belongs.
Led by the talented Gar Francis, known for his work with the Doughboys, the seasoned musicians in the NEW Bardōts made their bones in the vibrant NYC music scene playing legendary venues like CBGB's, Max's Kansas City, and China Club, sharing the bills with the likes of the Ramones, Talking Heads and Blondie. At Francis' side was Wayne Olivieri, a charismatic singer/frontman who Eddie Brigati from the Rascals once hailed as one of the most captivating performers of his time.
Life took them on separate paths after a couple of years, but the rock spirit never left their hearts. Francis forged ahead, forming his own successful band, and his songwriting skills earned him recognition, including penning "Baby, It's You" for the band Ricochet and collaborating as a guitar player on Billy Idol's "Mony, Mony." Meanwhile, Olivieri continued his rock journey with Oliver’s Twist, performing at the legendary club, The Stone Pony, where he became friends with Jon Bon Jovi, and he was soon sharing stages with rock giants like Bruce Springsteen, David Johansson, Huey Lewis, Cindy Lauper, and many more.
Now, in these dire times when rock and roll struggles to find its place, The NEW Bardōts rise to the occasion. They've enlisted the talents of Dan Skye, a familiar collaborator from the '80s, and welcomed drummer Johnny Rago to the fold. Inspired by the genre's roots, the band caught the attention of New Jersey-based label Bongo Boys Records in 2018, officially marking the start of their quest to help save rock and roll from extinction.
So, if you're craving pure, unadulterated rock and roll that will ignite your soul, look no further than The NEW Bardōts.
