On Space Force, Todd Rundgren brings together legends, luminaries, friends, peers, and acolytes from across genres and generations to create one of the most diverse albums of his stellar career. Guests include Rivers Cuomo, the Roots, Thomas Dolby, Sparks, Adrian Belew, Steve Vai, and more.
Expanding on the duets concept from his most recent studio album, 2017's White Knight, this time around the musical ideas derive primarily from Rundgren's collaborators, putting him back in the producer's chair to help bring rarities and never-released material to life.
This special “Space Force” of collaborators includes Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, hip-hop stars the Roots, indie rock duo the Lemon Twigs, legendary duo Sparks, electronic icon Thomas Dolby, guitar maestro Steve Vai, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Neil Finn, Adrian Belew, Alfie Templeman, and more.
Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Todd Rundgren has had a particularly eventful past few years, including the launch of his Clearly Human geo-fenced, location-specific virtual tour during the pandemic. Clearly Human was covered extensively from CNN to PBS Newshour, and was praised by everyone from Mayor of Chicago Lori Lightfoot to Rolling Stone, who offered that it "could pave the way for the future of live performances."
Rundgren's music has also been used to soundtrack pivotal scenes from the film and television world more than ever recently, including in the Oscar-nominated Licorice Pizza and Emmy-winning series Ozark.
