Tony Saunders' new album, The Romance Continues, offers a lush collection of 15 smooth jazz tracks, showcasing some of the genre's finest musicians. Saunders, who wrote, composed, and produced most of the tracks, collaborated with Michael Mani on several pieces, resulting in a deeply soulful and potentially chart-topping collection.

The lead single, "Loving You is Easy," recorded in both L.A. and San Francisco, features the talents of co-writer and producer Michael Mani, guitarist Bill Hampton, trumpeter Rob Zinn, keyboardist and synthesizer Michael Mani, and Saunders himself on bass.

Tony Saunders, a two-time Emmy Award-winning bassist, composer, and producer, has a rich musical heritage as the son of legendary Bay Area keyboardist Merl Saunders. His career spans jazz, gospel, R&B, pop, rock, and world music. Saunders earned his first Emmy at age 14 for his work on the PBS documentary Soul Is and his second for his contribution to the TV show Digital Journey, specifically the episode “China: Their New Digital Economy.” Though initially trained on piano by Herbie Hancock, it was the bass guitar - a gift from Tom Fogerty - that ignited his lifelong passion for the instrument.

Graduating from the prestigious Conservatory of Music in San Francisco as a pianist, Saunders focused his career on bass, influenced by legends like James Jamerson and Stanley Clarke. His career began with his father and Jerry Garcia and expanded to include collaborations with Eric Clapton, David Crosby, Les McCann, Dr. John, Joe Sample, Chaka Khan, Ringo Starr, Bo Diddley, Mavis Staples, John Lee Hooker, and many more.

Saunders has also scored films, corporate videos, TV shows, and commercials, and produced numerous artists at his Studio 1281. His contributions to stage musicals, such as Rock Justice co-written with Jefferson Starship’s Marty Balin, further showcase his versatility and talent.

With The Romance Continues, Tony Saunders cements his status as a significant independent force in contemporary jazz.
