One of the most critically acclaimed albums of the nineties on both sides of the Atlantic, including The Village Voice and New York Times top ten lists and NME's 1995 Album of the Year, the dark, mysterious Maxinquaye combined hip-hop, soul, dub, rock and electronic.
Along with fellow Bristolians Massive Attack, Tricky's debut album, featuring vocals from then-girlfriend Martina Topley-Bird, helped lay the foundation of trip-hop.
Now digitally remastered, Mazinquaye has been expanded with a Deluxe Edition disc of b-sides, outtakes and seven previously unreleased mixes, including three new mixes from 2009: 'Overcome 2009 Remix' by Tricky and Al Riley, 'Hell Is Round The Corner 2009 Remix' by Tricky and Gareth Bowen and 'Black Steel 2009 Remix' by Tricky, Jose Maria and Kidd Rasta.
