Chicago was awash in independent record labels during the late 1950s and early '60s, hoping to channel the same big beat heat that kept the Chess and Vee-Jay logos on top locally. Unlike many of their fly-by-night competitors, Profile Records landed a national hit with Junior Wells' 'Little By Little.' The label debuted in 1958 with pop crooner Johnny Doray's 'One Of These Days' and closed up shop three years later with 'Watcha Gonna Do,' a self-produced single by transplanted Sun rockabilly Hayden Thompson.
